A Doxology of Praise

Psalm 150

“Praise the Lord.

Praise God in His Sanctuary.

Praise Him in His mighty heavens.

Praise Him for His acts of power.

Praise Him for His surpassing greatness.

Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet.

Praise Him with the harp and the lyre.

Praise Him with tambourine and dancing.

Praise Him with strings and flute.

Praise Him with the clash of cymbals.

Praise Him with resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord.”

Psalm 150 was the last inclusion and is a doxology for the entire book of Psalms. It is a liturgical format – an explanation of the exaltation of the Divine. It gives the where, the why, the how, and the who of the celebration of praise.

And so we close our study, using the pattern of the Psalmist to create our modern doxology.

A Doxology of Praise

Praise the Lord.

Praise Him in the churches and the places of worship.

Praise Him in the homes.

Praise Him on the mission fields and in the hospitals.

Praise Him in the darkness and in the light.

Praise Him for His goodness and His unfailing love.

Praise Him for His power over evil and His forgiveness of our sin.

Praise Him for mercy.

Praise Him for grace.

Praise Him with the voices of children and the smiles of the aged.

Praise Him with the songs of choirs and the music of praise bands.

Praise Him with acts of kindness, with helping hands and the warmth of giving.

Praise Him with the sweetness of compassion.

Praise Him with the laughter of the saved and the tears of the forgiven.

Praise Him with everything we do that honors Him, that lifts His name, for He alone if worthy of our praise.

Let praise be on our lips and in our actions.

Let it be the core of who we are and what we do.

With every breath, may His name be glorified.

Praise the Lord.
