The Letter to the Church at Ephesus contains a warning to young Christians. Be armed, they are cautioned, against the warfare of Satan, especially the fiery darts. (Eph. 6:13) Those who had been victims of Roman warfare understood the effectiveness of the plumbata, the small weighted dart used by the Roman army. They were designed to be thrown from a distance, causing disruption before the major attack.
Satan, too, uses these tactics to confuse and distance believers from the truth. Often masked in “normal” feelings and attitudes, they may seem to have little or no connections to our relationship with God, but their attacks can do much damage to our faith and our witness.
Join us in the next weeks as we identify some of the deceptive “Darts of the Devil” in order that we may put on the armor God has provided for our protection.
“Put on the whole armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:11-12
