But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
II Corinthians 12:9-10
The Doorframe Scriptures are a source of strength and guidance, a collection of verses that we hold close as reminders of God's promises. Today, we reflect on II Corinthians 12:9-10, powerful verses that speak to God’s grace and His power working through our weaknesses.
This scripture calls us to a different understanding of strength, one that may feel foreign but is deeply rooted in faith. When we are faced with feelings of inadequacy, insecurity, or even exhaustion, God’s words here remind us that we don’t have to muster up the strength on our own—His grace is enough, and His strength shines brightest in our weakness.
In a world that often glorifies self-sufficiency and independence, it can feel strange to admit weakness. We may feel pressure to always appear capable, confident, and in control even in our spiritual lives. But Paul’s perspective challenges this mindset. Instead of hiding or resenting his weaknesses, he chooses to boast about them. Why? Because he knows that in those very places where he is weak, Christ’s power can work in ways that his own strength never could. His weaknesses, instead of being limitations, become invitations for God’s strength to flow through him.
This shift in perspective can be freeing. Recognizing our limitations allows us to lean into God’s boundless grace and power rather than relying solely on our own efforts. When we stop striving to appear perfect and acknowledge our need for God, we invite His presence into every struggle. In hardship, frustration, and even failure, God’s power becomes visible in our lives, often in ways we could never have orchestrated. Embracing our limitations is not about giving up but about allowing God to show up in the fullest sense.
So today, let’s find peace in this truth: God’s strength shines most powerfully through our weaknesses. We don’t need to feel fully capable to fulfill His purpose, nor do we need to have it all together to be used by Him. When we let go of the pressure to be perfect, we open the door for God’s grace to work through us. His grace truly is sufficient, and His strength will carry us, even when we feel weak. In every moment of struggle, let’s remember that God’s power rests on us, and in Him, we are strong.
