Revelation 22:13-17,20

It is in the Revelation to John that Jesus clarifies His identity: "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End"—the eternal nature of Christ.

He had explained this during His ministry—“Before Abraham was, I Am” (John 8:48)—and He was met with curses and stones. But in the end of times, there will be triumph.

No longer the examples of utility and custom—the Door, the Bread, the Shepherd, the Way. Instead, He speaks of victory, power, and inclusion. “Let the one who is thirsty come”—the Gift of the Water of Life.

"I am the Root and the offspring of David"—the fulfillment of the promise. "I am the Bright and Morning Star"—the last star of evening and the first of the new day, the beginning of eternity with God.

The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come."

Let the one who is thirsty come.

And, in the final words, He promises:

"I am coming."

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
