Psalm 62:5-6
Yes, my soul finds rest in God, my hope comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be shaken.
When King David wrote Psalm 62, he was under attack from his enemies. Rather than fight back, David chose to wait on God. If only we could do the same thing when trouble or worry comes our way!
As women, we tend to want to “fix” things as soon as possible when trouble or worry comes our way. It's what we do and I, for one, am guilty as charged!
We can put our trust in lots of places, in money, in our own wit and abilities. But there is no place safer than with the God who made everything, knows everything and can restore anything.
In times of trouble we should automatically go to Him and pour out our concerns and ask Him to guide and protect us. Waiting on Him first before we act is what we, like King David, should do.
I’ve often heard people describe someone important in their life - a parent, a close friend, a spouse – as their “rock.” That person is always there for them. They know they can count on them in difficult times and celebrate joy-filled moments with them as well.
How much more is the Lord our rock? Not only does He consistently do all those things. He is our salvation. If he has conquered death on our behalf, we can be confident that He will walk alongside us in all our trials and celebrate with us in moments of joy.
I recently had a family emergency that meant I had to stop everything and react. Knowing I had some obstacles in front of me, I prayed for help and guidance from God. I was amazed (and I should not have been) when my journey was made smooth and He took my situation and turned a very scary situation into good for everyone involved.
He is truly our rock, our salvation and our fortress!
Faith conquers fear, ladies!
