The Blueprint for the Christ Follower: Trust Completely

"Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Matthew 6:19-34

In our journey through The Blueprint for the Christ Follower, we’ve explored how to serve unselfishly, love indiscriminately, pray intentionally, and forgive freely. Each of these principles lays a foundation for a life modeled after Jesus Christ.

Today, we delve into a cornerstone of our faith: Trust Completely. This concept, beautifully illustrated in Matthew 6:19-34, challenges us to place our entire confidence in God’s provision and guidance. Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:19-34 speak directly to the heart of trust. He urges us not to store up treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, but to lay up treasures in heaven. He reminds us that we cannot serve both God and money, highlighting the futility of worrying about our material needs. Jesus points to the birds of the air and the lilies of the field as testimonies of God’s faithful provision. If He cares so wonderfully for them, how much more will He care for us, His children? This passage beckons us to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, with the assurance that all these things will be given to us as well.

Trusting completely means relinquishing our tight grip on control and surrendering our anxieties to God. For many of us, this is no small feat. As women, we often carry the weight of our families, our careers, and our communities on our shoulders. The desire to manage every detail and ensure the well-being of those we love can lead us into a cycle of worry and stress.

Yet, Jesus calls us to a higher way. He invites us to cast our cares upon Him, trusting that He knows our needs even before we ask. This act of trust is not passive but an active, daily choice to believe that God is who He says He is—faithful, loving, and sovereign.

When we trust completely, we experience a profound shift in our perspective. Our focus moves from our own limited resources to the limitless provision of our Heavenly Father. This trust transforms our prayers, turning them from anxious pleas into confident conversations with a God who delights in giving good gifts to His children. It changes how we serve, freeing us to give generously without fear of lack. It deepens our ability to love, knowing that we are held securely in the Father’s hands. Trust becomes the lens through which we view every aspect of our lives, illuminating our path with divine peace and assurance.

Let us, as women of faith, embrace this blueprint of trusting completely. In a world that often tells us to rely on our strength and strive for self-sufficiency, let’s stand out by our unwavering trust in God’s provision and promises. As we lean into this trust, we will find a peace that surpasses understanding and a joy that is unshakable. Together, let’s encourage one another to let go of our fears and place our trust fully in the One who holds the world in His hands and our hearts in His care. In love.
